NICOLA EVANGELISTI – BEWARE

Nicola Evangelisti

After the last series

of works that examined the relationship between real and virtual in the context of the economic crisis, Nicola Evangelisti continues his artistic research with the project BEWARE, focusing on the sense of unease generated by the current terroristic mode where messages by the media are decisive. The violence that kills the victims of the holy war becomes more powerful as they are transmitted in real time over the internet. The “virtual” world, thus, clashes with the viewers reality and influences their emotions, behaviors, and lives. This duality is translated by Evangelisti in works which, similarly, are composed of parts tangible, measurable, while also intangible, it’s presumed, generated by perceptual illusion as the work HOLY KNIFE. Installations of bullet shells make up the words PEACE and DEMOCRACY, terms deliberately written in English that condemn the US military strategy to continually advance the battlefront outside its boundaries. Area35 Art Gallery presents “BEWARE” solo exhibition of Nicola Evangelisti, curates by Arianna Grava and Olivia Spatola, at the contemporary art gallery in via Vigevano 35, Milan. Discover the artwork of the “BEWARE” serie on Kooness.com
